Reminder: Spring Break is this Friday, March 29-Monday, April 1st. Enjoy the long weekend!

JFK staff and students FLOODED the library hallway with raindrops by reading 17,019 books! Amazing work!!

On Monday, our 3rd grade students and teachers got to take a trip to the Washington Pavilion to see the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. Students were enthralled by the "Carnival of the Animals", which brought animals and music together to inspire them to explore the world.

March 21st was World Down Syndrome Day--to commemorate the day, Junior Kindergarten rocked some fun socks!

Students in 105 had a fun morning sampling Girl Scout cookies and deciding which kind was their favorite. This multidisciplinary project sharpened their math skills of data and graphing, as well as their opinion writing skills.

Plans are in the works for SFSD students and staff to bring electronic devices home over the weekend in the event that winter weather presents challenges on Monday. Refresh your memory now about the new remote learning plan by using the QR code on the image. We'll keep you posted if there are any schedule changes for Monday.

St. Patrick's Day came a little early today for students in 104. Students learned about data and graphs as they counted the number of each type of Lucky Charms marshmallows in their bags.

Our first week of Everybody Reads has been very successful! Currently, students and staff have read 4,159 books!

Students in 503/504 wrote a biography about an important person in history, and created the person using a plastic soda bottle. Students got super creative with their subjects!

Thank you to the families and staff that came to our 1st Annual Family Literacy Night! It was great to see families enjoying stories and playing games together. We had so much fun, we plan to make this an annual event!
Starting Friday, March 1 through March 22nd, JFK is participating in the Everybody Reads initiative with the Siouxland Libraries. This year's theme is "Rain or Shine, Everybody Reads." Students will have the opportunity to fill out raindrops to show the downpour created by our voracious readers!
The Sioux Falls School District will donate $500 to REACH Literacy for each 100,000 books read. Last year, JFK students and staff read 11,237 books--we hope to surpass that total this year!

Tonight's the night! Please plan to attend our 1st Annual Family Literacy Night!
